Do I need a Doula and a Midwife/Gynecologist?
A Midwife/Gynecologist focuses on the medical side of your journey. They also focus on you baby's wellbeing, too. A Doula's focus is the your wellbeing. During labor, her only focus is you!
What are your interactions with medical staff like?
I obey their protocols and stay within my Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics at all times! I build a kind and professional relationship with them. Teaming up with the sole focus on your wellbeing.
Do you perform any physical examinations?
I do not under any circumstances perform any medical examinations, nor prescribe medication or diagnose a condition. I refer to the appropriate health professional.
Can I have my husband/partner and a Doula?
Yes! I am a source of support for you, your partner and your family!
How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?
I enhance his/her presence in the birthing space. I educate not only you but your partner on all processes, too. I guide him/her in using the techniques taught during pregnancy, to stay involved in the laboring process.
Can I still benefit from a Doula if I have a c-section?
Yes, of course! Every birth journey needs some type of support. I will be there throughout your pregnancy, educate you on cesarean births, and most importantly be the best support on your postpartum recovery journey.
